Destroying a Dog (#36, my childhood favorite)

Someone has uploaded to flickr a set of the original Mars Attacks! bubble gum cards from 1962. These cards were test marketed by Topps through a dummy corporation called Bubbles, Inc. While popular with children the cards explicit gore and implied sexual content led Topps to halt production. They were reissued in 1994; and in 1996, David Cameron’s new BFF Tim Burton released a film based on the series. The flickr slideshow is more entertaining than the film. The original cards were inspired by Wally Wood’s illustration for his story “Down to Earth” which was featured on the cover of “Weird Science #16.”
